More fire-safety examples (Estonian)When is cleaning due?
Five years is not the cleaning interval. It is the professional-sweep requirement for a limited category of buildings.
Fire Safety Act § 11¹ (Estonian)At least once a year
Clean an in-use stove, fireplace or cooker, its chimney and connecting flue as needed and according to its documentation. Where documentation is absent or specifies no other interval, cleaning is required at least annually. The interval must prevent soot-fire risk.
A professional at least every five years
An owner may clean for their own use in a single-dwelling house, its associated building and a non-residential building with a footprint up to 60 m² and height up to 5 m. Under that exception, a qualified sweep must still clean at least every five years. Burning soot in a flue is excluded from the exception.
A professional service requires a certificate
A chimney-sweep qualification is required to provide cleaning professionally. See the Rescue Board’s guidance for apartment and terraced homes.
Gas-appliance flues have a separate rule
A chimney sweep must clean a gas appliance’s chimney and connecting flue every four years.
